On January 26th 2009, an annular solar eclipse was visible from the Cocos Islands and Indonesia. My home in Canberra Australia was in the south east corner of the eclipse footprint. Basically we would see almost the smallest percentage eclipse possible, just 0.6% as the Sun set. This gave me the idea for this quirky photo. which I've called "Much ado about nothing." Typical at this time of year is the thick bushfire smoke. This eclipse was only 10 days before "Black Saturday" when more than 200 people died in Victorian fires a few hundred km south.
