TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE
Wyoming and Idaho, August 21, 2017

I departed Australia on August 10th 2017 I flew Canberra, Sydney, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City. Arriving I checked into my hotel and rested to recover from the jetlag waiting for my mate Bengt to arrive from Sweden. Bengt arrived from Sweden that evening. Before his arrival, I went to initiate the hire of our rental car from the airport.

We went and got some food at the airport and then returned to the hotel to rest for a second night.
We departed on Saturday August 12 and began the drive north to Yellowstone National Park. Calling in on the way, we paid a visit to my friends Lee & Debbie McAllister in Ogden. Lee very kindly loaned us some camping gear for the trip which saved us having to bring stuff from Australia or buy it new in SLC.

We bought non-perishable food supplies at a large supermarket in Rexburg, ID. We had reserved a powered camping cabin in West Yellowstone for a week. The Yellowstone National Park was completely booked out for both camping and accommodation many months in advance.
We drove into the park on Sunday August 13 for out first sortie. This photo was actually taken a few days later but was the first of many beautiful places we visited. It is a truly outstanding landscape.
